RPD Bonus: A Surprise Validation

22nd in a 2022 Series*

Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon answered questions during WPA’s “Meet the Press” Luncheon.

He probably didn’t realize it, but Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon provided a great reason for why newspapers should transform themselves into THE Community Forum. Gordon was the featured speaker at the Wyoming Press Association‘s “Meet the Press” Luncheon, one of the highlights of the two-day convention (Feb. 4-5) held in Casper. At one point in his talk about Wyoming issues and opportunities, Gordon indicated he was like many citizens who are alarmed and concerned by the absence of civil discourse in our society. It seems like everything is a fight. And when there’s disagreement — say, between the two political parties — the microphones are only in “the hands of fighters.” Most of the citizens — the wide middle of America or a community — are on the sidelines, with no voice and left out. That’s a threat to an enlightened Democracy. The Relevance Project shares the governor’s concern. His timely Relevant Point was incorporated in my presentation to the WPA’s convention that followed about THE Community Forum strategy. Giving voice to concerned citizens is needed now more than ever. Be THE Community Forum. Thank you, Gov. Gordon.
