RPD: The Year Of Local Political Ads

11th in a 2022 Series*

This should be the year community newspapers discover a bonanza of political ad dollars. Experts say so. In short: Own local election messages. Why? A sizable amount will be spent at the state and local level in 2022 midterm elections. What better way to reach local voters than community newspapers that can do it all and represent the best of voters. One of my favorite reliable sources for political advertising insights is John Kimball, who gave an outstanding overview in a November webinar for America’s Newspapers. “There’s an incredible amount of money to be spent,” said the operator of the John Kimball Group. Billions. Let’s go. Work your plan now on how campaigns can use their ad dollars more effectively. Sales pitch closer: You will be supporting local journalism. A REMINDER: Check out The Relevance Project’s promotional ads in The Election Season section.
